Ryan Pepiot Sought Advice From Veterans Ahead of First Postseason
USA TODAY Sports

Ryan Pepiot is taking his preparation for his first postseason seriously. He wants to succeed, and has been seeking advice from the veterans on how to approach the postseason

“I’ve talked to a few guys in here about the difference between playoffs and regular-season games. I’ve gotten various answers,” Pepiot said. “More or less, it’s been that fans are going to be a little more into it, it’s going to be way louder, probably going to have to have PitchCom turned all the way up, put your glove over your ear. But it’s still the same game. … Just go out there and compete. Get the outs that you’re asked to get. And score one more run than the other team.”

Pepiot was arguably the best Dodger pitcher in August and September. After a rough rookie season in 2022 where he struggled with his changeup and command, Pepiot came into spring training drastically improved. If he hadn’t suffered an oblique at the end of spring training, he would have been the Dodgers No. 5 starter.

Since Pepiot didn’t pitch until July, he is very well rested entering October — a huge benefit for he Dodgers.

Bobby Miller has pitched the most innings of his professional career, while Clayton Kershaw’s shoulder is questionable. Pepiot is arguably the most important piece to the Dodger success in the postseason.

Pepiot’s desire to improve will help him to succeed in the postseason.
